Clarissa M. Riggins is the Director of Bands at Milagro Middle School and Amy Biehl Community School. She is also the Associate Director of Bands at Santa Fe High School. She received her Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU). During her time at ENMU, Mrs. Riggins performed in the Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Brass Choir, Jazz Band, and the Steel Drum Band. She also performed in the Kappa Kappa Psi/Tau Beta Sigma National Intercollegiate Band. She was marching section leader for the trumpet section for several years.
Upon graduation, Mrs. Riggins began her teaching career in Santa Fe Public Schools. She was the elementary band director for two years at four different schools: Chaparral Elementary, Amy Biehl Community School, Pinon Elementary, and Carlos Gilbert Elementary. In her third year, El Camino Real Academy opened its doors and she started the band program. Soon after, she also became assistant band director at Capital High School. Now, Mrs. Riggins hopes to build a strong band community between Milagro Middle School, Santa Fe High School and all the surrounding feeder schools.
